Cal Poly Student Media Wins 46 Awards

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Every platform of Mustang Media Group, the Cal Poly Journalism Department’s student-run media organization, received national recognition last weekend from three of college media’s most distinguished organizations—California College Media Association (CCMA), Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) and College Media Business and Advertising Managers (CMBAM).

Scholarship in memory of Cal Poly student Jordan Grant awarded to two journalism students

The family of Cal Poly student Jordan Grant have funded two $5,000 journalism scholarships in his honor. Jordan was a first-year Cal Poly computer engineering student who was killed October 7, 2018, in a motorcycle crash on Highway 101.

Patti Piburn Returns to Journalism Department

Patti Piburn has returned to the Journalism Department as the adviser to Cal Poly’s student-run radio station, KCPR. She had previously worked as KCPR adviser and a full-time lecturer for the department before taking a two-year leave of absence from Cal Poly to work on her doctorate at the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University.
