Marlize van Romburgh teaches news reporting and writing at Cal Poly. She's been a business reporter and editor since graduating from the university's journalism program herself. She’s currently editor in chief at Crunchbase News, an online publication that reports on startups, tech and venture capital through a data lens. Previously, Marlize spent six years with American City Business Journals, most recently as managing editor at the Silicon Valley Business Journal. She’s held various editing and reporting roles at business publications, with her reporting on banking and real estate during the financial crisis winning journalism awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, Los Angeles Press Club and the Society for Advancing Business Editing & Writing (SABEW). She received a “25 Under 35” award from Editor & Publisher magazine in 2013.
